MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) MQA is an award-winning British technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. Galvanic isolation is the ‘holy grail’ of computer audio. All inputs are galvanically-isolated (including USB). The USB input section has its own separate power management system with multiple regulators and filtering operating from the galvanically-isolated voltage generated to power this section. The Pro iDSD Signature has a ‘quad stack’ of Bit-Perfect DSD and DXD DACs by Burr-Brown. The ‘interleaved’ configuration means up to 8 pairs of differential signals can be used and mixed, equal to 4 pairs of signals per channel. Upsampling to DSD1024 has previously only been available to a select few. The Pro iDSD Signature makes it available to a wider audience. The DSD1024 remastering is handled by the Crysopeia® FPGA and this is where we believe the FPGA excels. Data is sent to the Memory Buffer from all inputs. Here it is de-jittered to eliminate any transmission of source jitter to the DAC output. The data from the Memory Buffer is further re-clocked by the low-jitter Global Master Timing® clock, which also drives the X-Core 200 and FPGA. With LINKPLAY™ WiFi/network playback, built-in Spotify and Tidal, and wide protocol support for 32-Bit/192kHz and DSD64, the Pro iDSD Signature can be also used without a computer to stream audio directly. Unlike other amplifiers that have the same circuit and just switch in/out the tube section, the original Pro iDSD and now the Pro iDSD Signature are among the very first to have two individual input circuits – one tube (General Electric 5670 tubes!) and one solid-state. The headphone dongle linking you with your music The GO link is the missing link in your listening experience. Firstly, it will enable corded headphones and earphones to connect to digital devices that don’t have a 3.5mm headphone output. Secondly, even if your device does have a headphone socket, the GO link delivers a big sonic upgrade. This is because its sophisticated DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) and headphone amp circuitry are superior to the audio tech contained within smart devices and computers. At one end of the GO link is a USB-C connector, and at the other is the DAC and headphone amp circuitry, both housed in robust yet lightweight magnesium alloy enclosures. In between is a 6cm length of flexible cable – this aids practicality, allowing the DAC/amp section to be angled towards the listener and reducing stress on the USB port to which the GO link is connected. At the heart of the GO link lies a power-efficient, high-performance DAC chip from ESS Technology’s Sabre HiFi series – the ES9219MQ/Q – benefiting from 32-bit HyperStream III architecture. This combines with Quad DAC+ and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator technologies, plus our dedicated clock circuitry utilising a specialised crystal oscillator, to deliver ultra-low distortion, excellent clarity and impressive dynamic range. Rarely implemented high-end features such as adjustable analogue gain with DRE (Dynamic Range Enhancement) plus technologies to minimise THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) and crosstalk are possible due to the DAC chip’s advanced specification. The cable linking both sections together uses silver-plated copper conductors with individual polymer insulation in a ‘twisted pair’ configuration. This rotational twist helps to optimise inductance and capacitance and also aids noise rejection. The GO link’s sound isn’t affected by electromagnetic interference picked up from nearby electrical sources. No distortion means you’re ready to dance without disturbance. Unlike other headphone dongles, the GO link doesn’t rely on the software-based volume controls in connected digital devices. This can adversely affect audio resolution. Instead, adjusting the volume on the connected device controls the volume level in the GO link’s DAC, not in the phone, tablet or computer. This hardware-based volume control is another feature that helps to deliver the GO link’s superior sonic performance. The GO link’s hi-res audio credentials are highly impressive given its diminutive size and price tag. PCM to 32-bit/384kHz DSD to 11.2MHz (DSD256) MQA An LED changes colour to indicate the incoming audio format – PCM, DSD or MQA – and the PCM/DSD sample rate. The GO link’s headphone amp feeds a gold-plated 3.5mm socket, incorporating our S-Balanced configuration to reduce noise and crosstalk. It delivers a power output of 70mW into 32 ohms, and a maximum voltage output of 2.05V into 600 ohms. The ZEN Phono has: MM/MC from 36dB >72dB gain. Super-silent noise floor -151dBV Precise RIAA with Balanced output, performance comparable to +$1k phono stages AI sub-sonic filter. Addresses warp without eliminating bass or causing phase issues -Hissless whisper Flagship phono amplifiers create their own power supply off the mains, like a mains regenerator. This is fundamental to a well-designed phono stage. Without this, it will struggle to amplify the signal without added noise. This is why phono stages ‘hiss’ so annoyingly. It is 20dBV quieter than some Stereophile Class A+ phonos which are -131dBV. -Mil-spec RIAA The EQ circuit uses multiple TDK C0G capacitors in parallel. This is for best stability and the least distortion. They beat polystyrene capacitors and are close to Teflon. Read more here. Already using the lowest tolerance capacitors combined with multiples in parallel, tolerance is exponentially improved by the square root of the number of capacitors. This is quite a natty circuit design. The RIAA EQ tolerance level (+/- 0.15dB) is impressive as it is en par with hand-selected capacitors! -With great circuit comes great components The ZEN Phono has some seriously good audio components backing up the fab circuit design which has trickled-down from its ultra-fidelity AMR PH-77 and iFi iPhono siblings.
