The high excursion 15 low frequency driver with double suspension low mass 4 voice coil provides fast and accurate transient response for virtually distortion-free operation – even in the most demanding performances. Equipped with a very efficient and lightweight KLARK TEKNIK Class-D power amplifier, the iQ 15B provides an impressive 3,000 Watts of output power. A high degree of control over the loudspeaker system’s performance is managed by a sophisticated, but easy to use KLARK TEKNIK Digital Signal Processor (DSP), which provides dynamic EQ and transparent limiting for the utmost punch and definition at high output levels – and long-term reliability. iQ15B’s advanced DSP speaker modelling presets include detailed and accurate models of some of the audio industry’s most-respected speaker systems. On the rear panel amplifier module, you will find a fully featured user interface consisting of an LCD display, the Channel A/B gain control, and a single rotary encoder for intuitive access to level, EQ, Speaker modelling, and Feedback Control (FBI). In addition to the two combination balanced XLR/jack inputs and balanced XLR outputs for powered satellite loudspeakers, the iQ 15B features a mic/line switch and level control with signal present LED. The iQ 15B also features our proprietary ULTRANET technology, which allows the use of CAT5 cables for transmitting pristine multi-channel audio signals and other information between ULTRANET-enabled products, such as digital mixers, powered loudspeakers, and personal monitor systems. This digital distribution networking not only eliminates the potential for RFI and crosstalk so common to analogue methods, but also significantly reduces the setup or installation time required. An onboard USB port provides access for remote control of the iQ 15B via PC computer, as well as DSP and speaker modelling firmware updates. CARDIOID PRINCIPLE The cardioid principle is all about cancelling out frequencies radiated to the rear. While medium and high frequencies can be radiated in directional patterns, low frequencies are spherical. This often leads to an unpleasant excess of low bass on and behind the stage. Organisers are also increasingly setting precise demands for sound distribution, for example in marquees and urban stages. The SONAR 115 SUB D meets all the requirements, both mechanically and acoustically, to implement effective cardioid setups quickly and easily, reducing the low bass radiated to the rear by up to 30 dB! This not only makes performing on stage much more relaxed, it also results in a better sound, as microphones no longer pick up unwanted low frequencies. A second SONAR 115 Sub D can be used to increase the sound pressure level in the bass range. The classic full-stack setup (shown on the left) with two subs projecting forward boosts the sound pressure by level 3 dB in all directions. But what makes the SONAR 115 Sub D so special are its cardioid capabilities. It has two special presets that allow you to configure a cardioid setup (shown on the right), where the lower sub projects to the rear, without the need for any complex calculations or time correction. To do this, simply direct the lower SONAR sub to the rear and select the Cardioid Rear preset, and direct the upper sub to the front, selecting the Cardioid Front preset. Now both subs can play perfectly together without having to make any further adjustments. The SONAR 115 Sub D is a powerful, state-of-the-art powered subwoofer for extending the bass response of SONAR full-range models, but also many other types of speakers. The particularly powerful 15″ woofer, the 1500-watt power amplifier and the meticulous HK Audio acoustic engineering guarantee an impressively powerful bass experience.
